Summer Update

Lot going on at the Scholls location of the Paula and Rich life. Here are a few highlights.

We moved all the way out of the farm house leaving only the dogs and Alicia and Tucker in the basement. We decided to do a makeover on it starting with the outside. We are adding decks, porches and overhangs.

This is the east elevation. I took the shot from the pool where I had just spent time with two of the true cuties of the world!

The entire back is getting a covered deck, the east side a great two story deck under a beautiful gable overhang, and the old mud room is becoming a wide open porch off the drive area.

The front also got a completely new look with a gable running all the way through into the entry replacing the old front porch. There will also be a deck off the second floor, and the entry will be moved out about 10 feet to enlarge it. All three of the front gables got extensions to protect them from the weather, and to give the old farm house a bit more of a lodge look.

The roof is being replaced now that the roof lines have been redone. As soon as the roof is on we will get back to the inside which is also getting a major makeover.

Meanwhile, down the street on Rainbow lane we have a friend Mike, a Native American, Viet Nam vet, retired engineer, who's hobby is artistic wood panels. His place is very unique with full 6x8 panels in front of his home telling his life story. I asked him if he would do a panel for me, and he came down and immediately upon walking into the backyard said that he saw a scene from his childhood.

An old but proud buck, standing next to the water, looking back at the mountain reminding himself of the lessons learned and distance traveled.

Mike himself has a bit of mileage on him, and I really enjoy his open willingness to share his heart and spirit. I think he is a great artist, and I am proud to have some of his work in the yard.

The grapes are on! Hard to believe that they were just planted two summers ago. It has really been fun to watch them grown and now ripen.

The fruit tastes as good as it looks.

Twenty Six rows of pure ecstasy!

$6 per box. Great for eating or juicing! No finer Jupiter's anywhere to be found!

How can you resist with Vivian, Kennedy, Mia, Dillan, Liyan, and Paula at your service!

What a fun post. That wood panel that your friend made is incredible. Very cool. The grapes are gorgeous and who could resist buying them with that crew selling them? I offered (begged) Paula to hire me to manage the new corporate retreat when it's finished but she said I would have to live there. I don't think chris would like that too much so I had to rescind my offer. Darn.

Fun to see pictures of them selling the grapes! And Tucker says "thank you very much for using the right colors for your text and background."

It's all looking good. I think I'm gonna miss the old house the way it was, but this is a perfect way to redo it. Keep the updates coming.
