Family reunions are one of my favorite things. Two of them happened the week of June 21st, and this post and the next are done for all of my family who missed them. We missed you, and can't wait to see you at the next one(s)!
This reunion was held at a former float plane dock and lodge on Wohink Lake in beautiful Florence, Oregon. Florence is one of the most diverse area's on the Pacific Coast with numerous coastal fresh water lakes, great sand dunes, beaches and tide pools. It sits on the mouth of the Siletz River, and is a great little quaint town as well.
This year was Ty and Shelly's turn to organize, and they really did a great job. We swam, boated, rode 4-Wheelers on the dunes, fished, ate and were goofy at the family gatherings.
Of course the matriarch and presiding officer was Marilyn. I think she had a pretty good time.
The lake, the place, everything was just perfect. The weather could have been a bit warmer, but frankly the kids didn't even seem to notice!!
The view is standing on top of the dunes looking out over the campground to the lake just beyond the lodge.
Even Uncle Tim was there in spirit, as Uncle Ty brought the Ski boat that Uncle Tim had owned during the last few years of his life. it was really fun for the family!!
The drivers were Uncle Ty and Nic, who really worked hard!
Nic worked so hard that Tina had to do some corrective work!
Soon however he was back in the saddle.
And the kids were lined up and pretty excited!
And they appeared to have a pretty good time!
Some were water skiing as well.
All the time, the kids were having a ball playing in the water near the docks.
Uncle Ty even arranged to borrow a couple of Jet Ski's which were constantly in motion!
And now for this post's mystery critter. I am going to use a bird for this one, and it was seen circling over the lake during the family reunion. Hint, it had a nest high up nearby.
Another very popular activity at the reunion was the dune motorsports. Both Uncle Ty and Nate brought 4-wheelers, and Nate had paddle tires mounted on his motorcycle. The bikes were all sizes and sppeds, so everyone could enjoy the activity. The gathering up on the dunes was amazing!
Not everyone was on a bike, but they were all having fun!
Each night, we gathered and had talents, goofy songs and games and cool presentations. Watching the kids at these activities was particularly entertaining.
So like all reunions, it is about the people...
And the families. (Sorry, I somehow missed Ty's and Cherali's and Choungh's and Nate's and ? families! I am to be punished for sure!)
Generation's one and two are responsible for a whole bunch of people sharing family on this earth!
Tim may not be in the picture, but he was most certainly at the function!!! As was Darwin.
Good thing we have at least a year to recover!!
